Published in the Arcadia Guide, Arcadia, Nebraska, Thursday, December 30, 1948, Page 1, Column 1 Mrs. Francis Marsh Passed Away Dec. 20 Orpha Josephine Marsh, daughter of W. G. and Rachel J. Eastman was born at York, Nebraska, May 29, 1890. When a small child she moved with her parents to Custer county where she spent most of her life. She united with the Christian church at the age of sixteen, remaining a faithful member until she departed this life, December 20, 1948, at Broken Bow, Nebraska. She was united in marriage to Francis W. Marsh November 26, 1908. To this union seven children were born, one daughter and six sons, one son, Calvin, preceding her in death. She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, Francis W. Marsh, her daughter, Mrs. Claude Mentzer of Arlee, Montana, her sons, Clarence L., Orvil H., Melvin G., Lloyd L., and Francis D., all of Arcadia; two sisters, Mrs. Lee Pierce of Wauneta, Kansas, and Mrs. John Fels of Arcadia; and one brother, Gale Eastman of Amarillo, Texas, and twelve grandchildren. All will miss her tender care and thoughtfulness. She was a tireless worker in the community and always ready to lend a helping hand. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, December 23, from the Liberty church with the Rev. C. W. Buehler officiating. Pall bearers were nephews, Robert Fels, Donald Fels, Harold Gates, George Larus, and friends, Marion Foot and Edgar Slingsby.
