Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent Saturday, 10 December 1927 Wood River, Neb., Dec. 10 (Special Dispatch)- Mrs. Mary Rydberg, 71, Wood River resident for nearly thirty-five years, died at her home here at 12:30 a.m., Saturday, following an illness on one year's duration. Hardening of the arteries, complicated with other ailments incidental to advanced age, was given as the cause of death. Born in Sweden, July 29, 1858, she came to America in 1879 and located at Kearney, at which point Mr. Rydberg was employed on the railroad for many years. In 1892 they came to Wood River, where the family has since made its home. Surviving are her husband, Godfred Rydberg, four daughters, Mrs. C. G. McKelvey, Omaha; Mrs. C. C. Bradley, Wood River; Mrs. Ed Bohn, Aberdeen, S. Dak.; Mrs. W. A. Carter, Wood River; and four sons, Grant, of Omaha; Carl and Paul, Wood River; and Verne, Bloomfield, N. J. Four children have preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held from the Presbyterian church here at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. Pfeiffer officiating. Burial will be in the Wood River cemetery.
