Bio

Rose Kociemba, 95, of Kearney died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Mount Carmel Home Keens Memorial. She was born April 12, 1915, in Loup City to Jacob and Mary (Galus) Roy. On June 7, 1938, she married Leon Kociemba in Loup City. He preceded her in death. Survivors are: sons, Roy of York and Tom and his wife, Rosalyn, of Peoria, Ariz.; daughters, Nancy Seaman and her husband, Bob, of Castle Rock, Colo., Mary Ann Lawson and her husband, Gayle, of Kearney and Ellen Werner and her husband, Marvin, of Littleton, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives. She grew up in Loup City and graduated from Loup City High School in 1933. She attended Chadron State College. She taught school at Sherman County District 5 for five years. She and Leon lived in Loup City for 11 years then moved to Ogallala, where they raised their family. After her husband's death, she lived in Riverpointe Retirement Center in Littleton until she moved to Kearney in 2005. She was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Ogallala, the Altar Society and Sisters of St. Francis for many years. She was active in church, was a Girl Scout leader for many years and was known for her many volunteer activities. She was also known for her cinnamon rolls. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
