Services for J. Floyd and Libby Smith of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at the Hodges Chapel in First Christian Church with Dr. Michael Passmore officiating. Interment will be in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Woodrow. Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home. They died on Dec. 9, 2004, in Lubbock. J. Floyd Smith was born July 30, 1917, in Sherman, Texas. He was raised in Quanah and graduated from Quanah High School. He served in the military as a 2nd Lieutenant during World War II and retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1945. He owned and operated Jay's Jewelers for over 25 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner. Libby Lee was born May 8, 1922, in Little Rock, Ark. She graduated from Lubbock High School. She was a longtime employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone, retiring after 35 years of service. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. J. Floyd and Libby were married on Sept. 1, 1945, in Lu bbock. They were members of First Christian Church. Survivors include their daughter, LeeAnn Alford of Lubbock; their son, Neal Smith of Winchester, Calif.; grandchildren, Pecos, Amanda and Aryn Alford; and Libby's brother- in-law, Neal Purdy. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Sanders Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospital for Children - Pediatric Burn Hospital, 815 Market St., Galveston, TX 77550-2725.
