Charlotte A. Robinson, 101, of Kearney died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at her home. Charlotte was born Feb. 12, 1907, north of Kearney to Edward and Elizabeth (Jacobson) Shovlain. On June 22, 1935, she married Leslie Robinson in Cozad. He preceded her in death. Survivors are: son, Frank Robinson of Kearney; daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Robert Hinrichs of Lincoln and Jeanette and Tim Peterson of Sullivan, Mo.; grandchildren, Lisa and Bill Stahlhuth and Matt and Julie Peterson, all of Labadie, Mo., Leslie Hinrichs of Boca Raton, Fla., and Mark and Kelly Jo Hinrichs of Lincoln and 10 great-grandchildren. In her youth, she and her family lived on a ranch near Parlin, Colo. She returned to Kearney and graduated from Kearney High School in 1926. She graduated from Kearney Normal School and taught home economics at Cozad High School. She helped with the Robinson family cattle and farming business by serving the corporation as secretary and record keeper for F.L. Robinson and Son Polled Herefords. The family had their cattle business west of Kearney and on a ranch near Gunnison, Colo. She was also busy raising three children at this time. After the herd of cattle was dispersed, she accompanied her husband in activities with the Nebraska Legislature. He represented the Kearney area as a state senator. She was a member of the Nebraska State Legislative League, the Alfalfa Center Kensington Club, the American Polled Hereford Association, Red Cross Bloodmobile volunteer, Chapter AS of The P.E.O. Sisterhood and St. Luke's Episcopal Church. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul, Bernard and Royal. Published in Kearney Hub on May 7, 2008
