Sibyl Williams passed from this life Saturday night, June 12, 2010, at home after a year-long battle with cancer. Sibyl had been a resident of Dalworthington Gardens since 1958 and was at home there with her family when she died. Graveside service: 10 a.m. Wednesday in Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday for family and friends at the funeral home. Sibyl was born June 24, 1930, in Dallas, where she lived until she married her husband, Jack Williams, on Oct. 12, 1946. Jack preceded her in death in May 1977. In 1964 she obtained her nursing license and began a labor of love in providing help and encouragement to thousands as she worked for many years at Arlington Memorial Hospital, mostly in the emergency room, and then in practices with private physicians for several years before retiring from nursing in 2003 due to health concerns. Her main love in life was her family. She was a devoted and sacrificial daughter, wife and mother to her three children and their families. "Mammaw," as she was called by everyone who knew her, was always and forever will be an example of what a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother should be. Sibyl was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors: Her children and their spouses, Pam and Joe Miller, John and Elaine Williams and Jack and Lana Williams; seven grandchildren and their spouses; 16 great-grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew.
