Bio

Loretta Golda Keith, 93, of rural North Platte, NE passed on to be with Jesus on June 8, 2012, at Linden Court in North Platte. Loretta Golda was born on April 19, 1919, to Arthur Earl and Anna Triggs Geise in North Platte. At the age of four, Loretta's father died on October 18, 1923, due to a heart attack, and her mother died 10 days later due to influenza. Loretta was raised by her grandmother, Mary Triggs, with the help of her aunt and uncle, Elsie and Bob Gutherless, and her uncle, Elmer Triggs. Loretta graduated from North Platte High School in 1937. She then attended the Denver School of Business and Secretarial until 1938. On November 26, 1938, Loretta married Harold Lee McNeel at North Platte. To this union a son, Lynn, was born. Loretta helped Harold on the ranch northwest of North Platte where they raised purebred Hereford cattle. She also worked at the Lincoln County Assessors Office. Harold passed away in 1961 and Loretta and Lynn remained on the ranch. Loretta married Bert C. Keith on March 12, 1963, at North Platte. Loretta's family grew with the addition of three more sons, Rex and Gary and their families and Bill, who was still attending high school. The family moved to Grand Island, NE for Bert's employment as a train dispatcher for the Union Pacific Railroad. Bert, Loretta, Bill and Lynn returned to North Platte and to the ranch in 1967. Bert continued working for the railroad and Loretta cared for their home and family. After Bert retired, he and Loretta enjoyed traveling. Bert passed on in 1992. Loretta was active in the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #163, BPO Does Drove #109 and Signet Chapter #55 Order of Eastern Star where she was Past Worthy Matron. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. Loretta is survived by her sons and their families, Lynn and wife, Marilyn McNeel, of North Platte and children, Daniel and wife, Ashley McNeel, and their children, Dani May, Chloe and Landon McNeel, Kate and husband, Tyson Kramer, Amanda McNeel and Tom McNeel and fiancee, Taylor; Bill and wife, Betty Jo Keith, of Lakota, ND and daughters, 1st Lt. USAF Alanna and 1st Lt. USAF Stephanie; Gary Keith of Evanston, WY and children, Eric, Tammy and Tyler Keith; Rex and wife, Kathi Keith, of Surprise, AZ and their children, Krystal and husband, Leo Butell and their daughter, Kara, and Mike Keith and his daughters, Jordan and Ashley; nine great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; other family and many dear friends. Loretta was preceded in death by her husbands, Harold McNeel and Bert Keith; her parents, Arthur and Anna Geise; her grandmother, Mary Triggs; aunt and uncle, Elsie and Bob Gutherless; and her uncle, Elmer Triggs. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Rev. Dr. Douglas A. Delp officiating. Burial will follow in the North Platte Cemetery with Eastern Star Rites by Signet Chapter #55. Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
