Sarah Ellen Lee Pace was the third wife of my Grandpa Frederick Earl Neuberger and they lived in Denver Colorado. My parents lived in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, which was 3-4 hours away, so we made a few trips each year to visit. My brother and I always lovingly called Grandpa's wife "Auntie" Ellen. Ellen worked at the Denver Dry Goods Company for many years. She is listed in the Denver City directory as early as 1948 as a buyer at the Denver Dry and she continued working there until her retirement. My mother, brother, and I took annual school clothes shopping trips to Denver and spent much of our time at the Denver Dry. I remember Ellen working in the women's under garment department and she used to say she sold girdles that rolled the fat from the hips up into the bra. "Auntie" Ellen was a very sweet and loving person. She and Grandpa used to laugh and say that in the Celestial Kingdom she would be married to her first husband Preston who died in WWII, but "Freddie" would be their gardener. Their home in Denver was on 45 Wadsworth Blvd. Grandpa Fred died and was buried in Denver and Ellen became his widow in 1970.
