Bio

Willie Sembera, 3852 Telephone Rd., Houston, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 11, 1969 in a Houston hospital after a lengthy illness. He attained the age of 59 years, 11 months and 5 days. Funeral services were held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, April 14 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ray Bowles officiating. Interment was in Resthaven Cemetery in Houston. Mr. Sembera, one of ten children, was born May 6, 1909 in Baylor County, Texas, near Megargel, son of Kristian Josef and Anna (Shunka) Sembera, natives respectively of Dolni Hermanice, Czechoslovakia and Austin County, Texas. The family moved to Shiner in 1911. He had been a Houston resident for the 40 years. He was a welder by profession. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Grace Sembera; one son, B. Eugene Sembera; stepdaughter, Mrs. C.J. Majewski, all of Houston; two sisters, Mrs. Doyle (Olga) Gilbert of Brownsville, Mrs. Rudy (Lillie) Barta of East Bernard; three brothers, Rudolph Sembera of Bakersfield, California, Alfred Sembera of Houston and Emil Sembera of Shiner; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father on November 19, 1941; his mother on November 3, 1929; two brothers, Frank Sembera, April 22, 1949; Adolf Sembera, June 7, 1961; two sisters, Mrs. Jim (Vlasta) Vincik, March 18, 1969, and one died in infancy.
