Note: Occupation – Sawmill Work. Dixon and Minnie lived in Hicks Community for several years before moving to the area now called the Artillery Range of Ft. Polk. In the Range, they were residents of the area between the Ft Polk Artillery Range and Camp Claiborne that the Federal Government did not buy. They were left in the Range with bullets coming so close to their home until one took the smokestack off the sugar mill. Their sugar mill was to the left of their home. They were forced to sell to a lumber company and moved before some of the family was killed from bullets being fired from the firing ranges. Several families of the Ft Polk Range were left in the same condition.
