Bio

Funeral services for mrs. Barbara Michna (nee Guercky) of Ganado, were held Monday, January 5, 1953. Interment was in the St. John Catholic Cemetery. The deceased, age 89 years, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gustina Zacek, on Saturday, January 3, at 1:30 a.m., following an illness of about two months. She was born June 24, 1863 in Czechoslovaakia, as the daughter of mr. and Mrs. Frank Guercky, and came to this country at the age of four years, settling in the Engle section. In 1882, she was united in marriage to Vinc Michna and the couple settled in the Engle section where she lived until two years ago when she went to Ganado to live with her daughter. She was a member of the St. John Catholic church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Moritz (Angelina) Schwenke, Engle; Mrs. Rudolph (Caroline) Jurica, St. John; Mrs. Gustina Zacek, Ganado; two sons, Eddie Michna, Goliad; and Leonard Michna, Austwell; and one sister, Mrs. Caroline Pietschke, Engle; thirty grandchildren and forty-seven great-grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death on April 24, 1951, and three children, Vinc, August, and Barbara, died in infancy, and Rudolph, Jim, and Charlie Michna passed away in later life. Pallbearers were Leroy, Julius, Charlie and Alfons Michna, Herman and Ben Jurica. Published in The Schulenburg Sticker Friday, January 9, 1953
