Marianna Golka was born in House #4 in Mitrovice, a tiny village near Vratimov, Moravia in the Austro-Hungarian Empire (now Czech Republic). Her parents were Josef Golka and Anna Kolar. Her mother died in 1879 and her father remarried to Johana Pokluda. Marianna came to Texas arriving in November 1880, a month shy of her 16th birthday. -------------- The funeral services for Mrs. Mary Stavinoha occurred Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence of her son-in-law Jim Wagner at Moulton, Texas, Father Kopp performing the burial rites. The body was then brought to Shiner and laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery, Father Netardus performing the last sacred services. Mrs. Stavinoha was born in Moravia, coming to America as a young girl. Her husband Frank Stavinoha preceded her to the grave about thirteen years ago. Mrs. Stavinoha had been ill for many months. She was 62 years old at the time of her death. Surviving are four sons: Frank of Moulton; Louis, August and Charlie of Shiner. Seven daughters are also left to mourn her loss: Mesdames Francis Vita of Dallas; Caroline Novak of Danbury; Alvina Wagner of Moulton; Sophie Jirkovsky, Annie Culak, Louisa Welfel and Marie Culak of Shiner.
