Death is always grievous and heart rendering but when it comes at the Christmas season it is doubly sad. After 7 weeks illness Alfred, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Mikesh, passed away Sunday morning at 5 o'clock. Alfred was born in Knox County and was 14 years, 6 months and 13 days old. He is survived by his father and mother, 3 brothers - John, Jim and Adolf and 6 sisters - Rosie, Fanny, Lillie and Ella at home and two married, Mrs. Mary Bortel and Mrs. Agnes Filip. The funeral was held from the Catholic Church, Monday morning at 10 o'clock with burial in Catholic cemetery. Father Benes of St. Anne's conducted the services and the Sisters rendered comforting music. Alfred had been a pupil of the Boundary Line School and 6 of his classmates acted as honorary escort both at the church and cemetery. Active pall bearers were Jim Vincik, Rudolf and Frank Filip, Frank Riha, Joe Tesar and John Svatek. Six flower girls handled the beautiful array of fragrant blossoms. A very large crowd attended the funeral. The Gazette extends heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved. Shiner Gazette, Shiner, Texas, Thursday, December 10, 1925
