He took his basic training at Ft. Bliss, Texas and then served in Korea a little over a year in the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Shiner Catholic Church having been baptized January 26, 1955. On February 1, 1955, he was married to Irene Matula in the Shiner Catholic Church and the couple settled on the farm at the present residence. They farmed for their livelihood and established themselves in the vegetable produce business. With the closing of the final chapter in his book of life on its earthly pilgrimage, we pause to extend abiding sympathy to his family and loved ones, who have suffered a great loss in his death. In the years to come, memories of his unselfish characteristics will aid loved ones and friends along life's way, and his precepts and beliefs will be their guiding star.
