His grandparents were Elvira Elizabeth Randolph Engledow and Creed Simpson Engledow. His father was John Henry Engledow and his mother was Exonia Ella Elizabeth "Bettie" Rosenbaum Engledow McCarty. Engledow who died at 2 years of age. Creed then married Myrtle Burke Shipley who had two sons by her marriage to Shipley. Creed and Myrtle had one child Mary Creed Engledow. Mary Creed married Ferol Robinson of Huntsville, Walker County, Texas.
