According to his death certificate he was the son of George John Witzel and Martha Heinkel. He was buried on June 12, 1973. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ George Witzel, 75, Dies; Rites held Tuesday George Edmond Witzel, 75, of Route 1, Elm Mott died Sunday morning in a Waco nursing home after a long illness. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Aderhold Funeral Chapel in West. Rev. Isidore Rozycki officiated at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Aderhold Funeral Chapel. Burial was in St. Martin’s Cemetery in Tours. Mr. Witzel was a native of Rochester, N.Y. He was born Nov. 17, 1897. He was employed as a roads and grounds foeman at the old Connally Air Force Base. He retired several years ago. He married Hazel McDonald on June 25, 1941 in Alice. He was a member of St. Martin’s Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, George Witzel, Jr., of Elm Mott and Robert Witzel of Austin; a stepson, Raymond Lee Taylor of San Antonio; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Todd of Euless; a sister, Mrs. Sophie Van Sice of Rochester, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
