Bio

Former Custer County resident, 88 Tucson, Ariz.-Ross John Weatherly, 88 of Tucson, formerly of Custer County, Neb., died Friday, Nov. 26, 1993, at Tucson. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church at Callaway, Neb., with the Rev. Fred Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Waldheim Cemetery northwest of Callaway. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home of Lexington, Neb., is in charge of arrangements. He was born Feb. 21, 1905, in Missouri Valley, Iowa, to Lula and Harry Weatherly. The family moved to Custer County in 1916. On August 8, 1925, he married Verna V. Woodward. They farmed in the Callaway community until 1966, when they moved to Tucson, where he worked with his son and son-in-law at the Hobart Co. until 1979. He was a farmer most of his life. His hobbies included baseball and houseshoe pitching. Survivors include his wife, Tucson; sons, Dick, Jerry and Gary; daughters, Lula Pitts, Rosezella Price, Betty Martin, Bonnie Bubak and Shirley Brestel; brothers, Robert and John; 23 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.
