Bio

Rodney Allwin Anderson, of Lisbon, ND, formerly of Gwinner, mowed his path to Heaven on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at the age of 71. Rodney was born May 1, 1939, in Britton, SD to Allwin and Millie (Cink) Anderson. He was baptized, confirmed, and remained a lifetime member of GA Lutheran Church in Gwinner. Rodney graduated from Gwinner High School in 1957. On November 22, 1958, Rodney married Connie Faye Hopkins in Milnor, ND. They farmed outside of Gwinner until 1991, when he started working for Whitestone Township. He also worked for Melroe Company and Ransom County Implement. Rodney and Connie moved to Lisbon in the fall of 2006. Rodney had many activities that he was involved in, such as serving as President of the Gwinner School Board, a member of the Gwinner Civic and Commerce, First Responder, as well as a Shriner. After retiring, due to his health, Rodney enjoyed going to auctions, tinkering around the yard, and was always up for a great debate. He always enjoyed visits from his grandchildren, where they would play in the yard, garden, and play cards. Continuing to blaze paths on Earth are his three daughters, Bobette, Aberdeen, SD, Kim (Stu) Utgaard, Star Prairie, WI, and Jolene Hardy, Gwinner, ND, and one son, Patrick (Lori) Anderson, Christine, ND; as well as 11 grandchildren, Kyle Anderson, Annika, Antje, Alexandra, and Abrianna Utgaard, Nicholas, Ross, Elizabeth, and Addyson Hardy, and Tannis and Dain Anderson; two sisters, Verna (Dean) Anderson, Gwinner, and Audrey Claus, Fargo, ND; and a brother-inlaw, Larry Bartz, Gwinner. He was preceded in death by Connie, his parents, brother, Delair, and sister, Sharon. Visitation will be Sunday, May 23, from 4-7, followed by a Prayer Service at Armstrong Funeral Home in Lisbon. The funeral will be held Monday, May 24 at 10:30 at GA Church in Gwinner. Interment to follow at Gwinner Cemetery.
