Bio

Cleona "Toni" Decker Morgan, age 83, dipassed away on Monday, May 24, 2010 of a sudden heart attack at Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, Utah. She resided at 185 North West Temple Street (100 West) in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Salt Lake City, Utah at the time of her death. She was born January 30, 1927 in Durango, Colorado to Laura Pearl Adams Decker and James Bean Decker Jr. She graduated from South Summit High School in Kamas, Utah, and attended Brigham Young University at age eighteen, graduating sixty-four years later at age eighty-two. Toni married Wayne Rich Morgan in the Logan Temple on October 5, 1948, and together they reared four children. They later served an LDS mission to Hartford, Connecticut. Toni will be remembered for many things: her welcoming and radiant smile; her ability to "light up the stage" when she performed; her many meals for family, friends, and soon-to-be friends; her enthusiasm for life; and her cheerful, positive attitude. She had the gift of making each of her children and grandchildren feel like a favorite, and she relished supporting them in every interest and endeavor. She will also be remembered for her great faith and testimony and her dedication and selflessness toward others. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Rich Morgan; her parents; her brothers James Bean Decker III, Webster W. Decker, and Charles A. Decker; and her sister Maude May Decker. She is survived by her sister Helen Decker Foutz and brother Craig A. Decker; children, Steven (Jan) Morgan, Melodie (Leon) Waldron, Cinda Morgan, and Nathan (Janalee) Morgan; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. To paraphrase one of Toni's favorite hymns, "there is sunshine in our souls today" even though there is sadness too at the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and friend. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the LDS Chapel at 200 North 142 West, Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held on Friday, May 28, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple Street, Salt Lake City, and from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the Church prior to the services. Interment: Liberty Cemetery, Bear Lake County, Idaho. Published in the Deseret News from May 26 to May 27, 2010.
