Buried Lot 367E Space- 1 ********** James Hilbert Copeland lost his life in the North Atlantic Ocean on April 24, 1945 aboard the U.S.S. Frederick C. Davis, an Edsall-class destroyer escort, when it was struck by a torpedo from a German submarine. His remains were not recovered. His name is listed on the East Coast Memorial, Tablets of the Missing, located in Battery Park on Manhattan Island in New York.
