Bio

Graveside services for Cecil Kelsey, 93, of Lubbock will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the City of Lubbock Cemetery with Rev. John H. Ballard officiating. Arrangements are under direction of Rix Funeral Directors. He died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004. He was born Aug. 18, 1910, in Estacado, Texas. He graduated from Lubbock High School and lettered in basketball at Texas Tech in 1929. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Downtown Bible Class and a 50-year member of Lubbock Lions Club. He was employed by Scoggin- Dickey for 40 years, retiring as sales manager. He married Grace Emerson in Lubbock on Aug. 15, 1936. She died Jan. 13, 2003. Survivors include a daughter, Jane Cone and husband Jim of Lubbock; grandsons, Jim Cone and wife Kim of Austin, and Caleb Cone of Fort Worth; great-grandson, James of Austin; and brother, Richard Kelsey of Lorenzo.
