Funeral services for Oliver A. Smith, age 84, of Lewisville, will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at the Bowman Chapel of the First United Methodist Church in Lubbock with the Rev. Mary Sue Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. Mr. Smith was born on Dec. 23, 1919 and passed away on Jan. 7, 2004. He was married to Florence Binger on Oct. 20, 1956 in New York, N.Y. He was born in Floyd, Texas but lived in Lubbock, Texas for almost 50 years. He was the owner of the BBB Pawn Shop and later a salesman for I. Spiewak & Sons for many years. He served during World War II in North Africa and throughout Europe with the U.S. Army, attached to the 1st Infantry Division, from 1940 until the end of the war. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Florence Smith. He is also survived by Carole Smith Gayler - daughter (Coppell, Texas), Caroline Gayler - granddaughter (Coppell, Texas), Mike Gayler - son-in -law (Coppell, Texas) Luther Smith - brother (Dallas, Texas), Lisa Prude - niece (Coppell, Texas) Lauren Prude - grandniece (Coppell, Texas), Pam Darkoch - niece (Coppell, Texas), Barbara Arace - niece (New Jersey), Karen Zuckerfien - niece (New Jersey), Richard Binger - nephew (San Antonio, Texas), Greg Holliday - nephew (Houston, Texas), Ethel Binger - sister-in-law (Lubbock, Texas) Samuel LaPeters - cousin (Marfa, Texas).
