Obituary (The Roanoke Leader, 26 September 1928) MRS. ELIZABETH STANFORD DIED Death came to one of Clay County’s oldest and most respected mothers on Monday morning when Mrs. Elizabeth Stanford was taken from her earthly home. Her husband (Thomas Stanford, 1839-1901) had long preceded her. She left seven children and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren to mourn her going. The funeral was at Lineville Baptist Church conducted by Revs Wood and Bynum. Burial was in the Old Lineville Cemetery. (The Lineville Headlight, 20 Sep 1928) Mrs. Stanford was reared just south of Roanoke, AL. Mrs. C. H. Cole and Mrs. Sarah Goodwin of Roanoke are sisters of this good woman.
