Bio

Shirley F. Scott, 61, of Lubbock passed away on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, in Lubbock. She was born Nov. 5, 1942, in Higden, Ark., to the late Thurman E. and Gladys Mae Walley. She moved to Lubbock in 1956 and married George W. Scott on Sept. 16, 1962, in Lubbock. Shirley was preceded in death by a sister, Marcella Vanoster, and two brothers, Johnny and Tillman Walley. Her survivors include her husband, George of Lubbock; four sons, C.E. Chumley, Johnny Chumley and George Scott Jr., all of Lubbock, and James L. Scott of Shallowater; two sisters, Betty Hickman and Carlyn Massey, both of Lubbock; two brothers, Maxcell and Charles Walley, both of Bee Branch, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 2 p.m. at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Woodrow with Rev. E.L. Bynum officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
