Ora's father moved his family by ox team from Kentucky in 1855 when she was a young child. They settled in Dallas County near Scyene. Her father was a farmer. For a while as a young woman Ora taught school at Pleasant Mound and there met and married Daniel LeBow, a former Union soldier who had come to Texas to teach school after the war. Daniel and Ora married in 1879. Around 1892 they lived later at Smithfield and Sowers where both taught school, and for many years were in demand to furnish music for local meetings, Daniel with his violin and Ora with organ or piano. She chose and prepared the hymns for all church meetings in the community where she lived. When the Cherokee Strip was opened to colonization in Oklahoma the LeBows made the drive and staked out a claim where they lived for several years before coming to Dallas. Ora lived the last 35 years of her life at 134 South Ewing in Dallas. Note: Another Find A Grave contributor reports that according to the Trimble County, Kentucky, 1853 birth records, Oraglender Conner was born on 20 December 1853 to James Conner and Lucinda Pemberton Conner in Trimble County, Kentucky. Ora's grave marker and her death certificate, however, show her birth year as 1852.
