Bio

Stanley Abel, 38, who died in a New Orleans hospital Tuesday afternoon at 3:15 o'clock was buried in the Winnfield Cemetery Thursday afternoon at 4:00 o'clock, under the direction of Hixson Brothers. Services were held at the Hixson Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Harvey B. Hysell, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Winnfield, officiating. Mr. Abel was born in Winnfield and lived here until age 14. At the time of his death he was employed at the port of embarkation, New Orleans. He was the son of the late S. M. Abel, a former resident of Winnfield, and Mrs. Abel of Rochelle. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife and daughter, Judith, of New Orleans; two brothers, S. M., Jr., of Philadelphia, Pa., and Sam Abel who is serving with the U.S. Navy; one sister, Mrs. Helen Renwick of New Orleans; and an uncle, P. K. Abel of Winnfield. Acting as pallbearers were W. W. Allen, Willie Verne Hall, Judge R. W. Oglesby, H. V. Dunford, A. L. Smith, and B. H. Williams. Published in The Winn Parish Enterprise (Winnfield, LA), September 13, 1945
