Clarence R. Phillips, 78, of Clifton, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010. Military Graveside Service will be at 5 p.m. Monday, May 17, 2010, in Mitchell Cemetery in Iredell Clarence was employed by Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), retiring after 37 years of service. He was a veteran of the Korean War, in A Battery, 95th Armored Field Artillery Battalion. Clarence served 13 years in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was preceded in death by his father, George Phillips; his mother, Zelma Phillips; a sister, Marie Amons; and a niece, Patricia Amons. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Marjorie Lee Pick Phillips, of Clifton; daughters, Monica Bryant and husband, Darrel, of Clifton, Shirley Dianne Gutkowski and husband, Greg, of Crowley, and Kathy Lynn Phillips and Kruger Lilte, of Clifton; grandchildren: Justin Gutkowski, Paige Gutkowski, and Clint Wilson; great-grandchild, Jaylen Gutkowski; brother, Claiborne Phillips and wife, Beth; Aunt Veleta Phillips; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends.
