Houston County Courier - December 17, 2006 Obit for Mr. Henry S. Bruner, age 92 of Latexo, passed away Monday, December 11, 2006 in the east TX Medical Center-Crockett. Mr. Bruner was born March 11, 1914 in Kemp and was a resident of Latexo most of his lifetime. Some of his most memorable years were spent in Ratcliff where he served as a Sergeant in the C C.C.Camp. It was at this time, he met Sue Rains and they were married on April 8, 1939. Shortly there after, Mr. Bruner joined the U. S. Air Force and served in India from 1942 until 1946. Mr. Bruner was a World War II veteran. When returning to the States, he took residence in Latexo. Mr. Bruner owned and operated a Barbershop in Downtown Crockett until he retired in 1990. Mr. Bruner was a member of the Latexo Baptist Church and served the Lord as Deacon and Son Director for 51 years. In 1998 he was awarded the title "Deacon Emeritus" and remained an Honorary Deacon until he went to be with the Lord. Mr. Bruner also served as Adult Men's Sunday School Teacher for 44 years. Mr. Bruner was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. "Well done, thou good and faithful servant. Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." Matthew 25:21 Survivors include his wife of 67 Years, Sue Bruner, of Latexo; two sons Harvey Bruner and wife Debbie, of Latexo and Ray Bruner and wife Tami, of Crockett; four grandchildren Julie Foshee, of Austin, Vance Bruner, Raechell Bruner, both of College Station and Evan Bruner, of Crockett; great-grandchildren Rhett Foshee; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Preceded in death by two brothers Lloyd and Uel Bruner. Funeral services for Mr. Henry S. Bruner were held Thursday, December 14, at 2:00 p.m. in the Latexo Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Jones, the Rev. Jim Tom Ainsworth and the Rev. Terry Cashion officiating. Interment followed in the evergreen Memorial Park.
