Darlene was born in Seward, Nebraska on September 1, 1929, to Joseph and Helen (Moravec) Handler. She graduated from Utica High School in 1946. She attended National Business Institute at Lincoln and was employed at the First National Bank of Utica for 4 ½ years. On April 25, 1953, Darlene was united in marriage to Otto Wiemer at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Utica. The couple took their wedding trip to the Ozarks. They farmed and fed cattle near Utica until their retirement. Darlene enjoyed gardening and canning, crafts, baking, caring for her cats and bowling. Darlene was a member of the St. Patrick's Altar Society, Utica American Legion Auxiliary #49. Darlene passed away on May 12, 1010, at The Independence House in Lincoln, NE at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 11 days. She is survived by a son James Wiemer of Lincoln, NE; daughters, Denise Wiemer of Lincoln, NE and Diane and her husband David Mooney of Utica, NE; grandchildren, Joseph and wife Kari Radke of Kearney, NE, Danielle Mooney and Joshua Mooney both of Utica, NE; Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Otto Wiemer; brother and sister-in-law, Ervin and Blanche Handler.
