The Howard County Herald, November 27, 1963 Stanley Kowalski Rites At Farwell Stanley A. Kowalski was born on a farm north of Farwell to John and Julia Kowalski on Sept. 27, 1887. His parents moved to Momence, Ill. and lived there until Stanley was about 7 years of age. They returned to the farm near Farwell where he grew to manhood. On. Feb. 1, 1910, he was married to Miss Leokadia Lewandowski at Mount Carmel Catholic Church. They lived near Paplin for several years after which they farmed north of Farwell. Mr. Kowalski was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and a member of the St. Anthony parish in Farwell. On Oct. 21, he entered a hospital at Grand Island for medical treatment and returned home just a week ago where Friday morning death came to him. He was 76 years old. Mr. Kowalski was preceded in death by a broth, Anton and a sister, Julia Waltman and two grandsons. He is survived by his wife, Leokadia, of Farwell, a daughter, Mrs. Ray (Sabine) Lewandowski, Farwell; three brothers, Pete in Idaho, Benjamin of Elba and John, St. Paul; two sister, Mrs. Frances Mervin, Momence, Ill., and Mrs. Anna Brandley, North Platte; three granddaughters, Roseann, Rae Jean and Sharon of Farwell. Funeral services were held on Monday morning, 9:30 at Keating Mortuary and 10 o’clock at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Farwell with the Rev. Father Anthony Radziewicz offering the requiem high mass, assisted by the choir, in which a granddaughter, Rae Jean Lewandowski sang. Miss Roseann Lewandowski, a granddaughter, was the organist. Rev. Jos. Hinzman was present in the sanctuary. Serving as pallbearers were: Donald and John L. Kowalski, Frand and David Gorecki, Edward Deminski and Anton Cours. Burial was in St. Anthony cemetery south of Farwell. The rosary was recited on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Present from our of town were Mrs. Anna Bradley, North Platte, Mrs. And Mrs. Paul J.
