Ogden Harvey was born in Massachusetts in about 1798. He and Eliza McDonald, 1800 New Jersey, were married on July 2, 1818 in Hamilton, Butler, Ohio. They settled in Butler County and in 1819 he bought a parcel of land from Samuel and Mary Johnson.* Ogden and Eliza resided in Ohio for about twenty years, then relocated to Ray County, Missouri before 1843. Their offspring included: 1. Thomas J. Harvey b: 1818 in Butler County, Ohio 2. James M. Harvey b: 1822 in Butler County, Ohio 3. David Harvey b: 1827 in Ohio 4. Caroline Harvey b: 1834 in Ohio 5. Bulah Harvey b: 1837 in Ohio 6. Ogden P. Harvey b: 1843 in Ray County, Missouri By 1850, Ogden held farmland in Ray County, Missouri that was of sufficient size to require more help than his sons could provide. He hired a laborer from England and held two adult servants (listed with three young children on the United States Census Slave Schedule of 1850).
