Bio

James Hulen Robnett, 87,of Lubbock, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 3, 2010. He was born Sep. 19, 1922 In Klondike, Delta County, Texas to D.C. and Ouida Robnett. He graduated from Sherman High School in 1941, where he lettered in both football and basketball. He attended West Texas State University in Canyon on a basketball scholarship before enlisting in the Navy in 1943. He served as a Navy Pilot and had the honor of flying Admiral C.W. Nimitz on numerous assignments in the Pacific Theatre. After the war, James graduated from the University of Texas Dental School in Houston and began his practice in Lubbock in 1952. He returned to school in 1958 and was in the 3rd graduating class of the UT Houston School of Orthodontics. He started his orthodontic practice in 1960 in Lubbock and dedicated his skill and passion to the profession for 45 years until his retirement at the age of 82. He had two children, Heidi and Suzette, who both grew up in Lubbock. In 1984, he married the "love of his life," Joyce Newsom Robnett of Levelland. He was preceded in death by his parents, D.C. and Ouida Robnett; brothers, O'Brien and Bill Robnett; and sister, Betty Robnett Sampson. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Joyce; his daughters, Heidi Robnett and Suzette Robnett Fenton and husband Rob; and his grandchildren, Carson Deno and Parker Fenton. He is also survived by stepdaughters, Fredna Lair and husband Bruce and Tedna Taylor and husband John; step grandchildren, Tres, Haliegh, Cameron, Tate, Kam, and Natalie; and several step great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be May 7, 2010, at 3:30 p.m. in the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
