WATHENA, Kan. — Dianne Joan "Joanie" George, age 65, of Wathena, Auburn, Neb., and formerly of Sylmar, Calif., passed away at the home of her son in Bee, Neb., on May 3, 2010. Joanie was born on March 26, 1945, in Santa Ana, Calif., to Harry H. Everette and Maurine A. Everette (Chaney), who proceeded her in death. She was raised and spent much of her life in southern California. She married Donald E. Corner in 1962, who proceeded her in death. She worked for over 30 years as a P.B.X. operator in an answering service in California and for several years at Jerre Anne's cafeteria in St. Joseph. She met and later married Elmer George in 1975 of Wathena, Kan. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Elmer George of Wathena, Kan.; children: Dawn Weston of Simi Valley, Calif.; Robert Corner of Bee, Neb.; and Lisa Smith of Auburn, Neb.; step children: Ted George of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Bonnie Gordon of Santa Clarita, Calif.; and Tammy Smith of Lakeside, Calif. She had 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren Services: 11 a.m. Friday, May 7, at the Harman Rohde Funeral Home, 310 Fremont Street, Wathena, Kan. Interment following at the Rosedale Cemetery, Wathena, Kan.
