Pansy Selby Obituary MATTOON - Pansy L. (McKibben) Selby, age 90, of Buffalo Grove, IL, formerly of Mattoon, IL, and Danville, IL, passed away at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, IL on April 27, 2010, at 8:20 a.m. Services honoring her life will begin at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 1, 2010, at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938, with Reverend Dr. Mark Prevo officiating. Interment will be in Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon, IL. Visitation will also be held at the funeral home, Saturday, from 1:00-3:00 p.m., prior to the service. Pansy was born on April 10, 1920, in Mattoon, IL, the first daughter of Harley and Goldie McKibben. Survivors include two children, Bill Selby and his wife Barbara of Marietta, GA, and Sherry Wilson and her husband Brent of Buffalo Grove, IL; five grandchildren: Tad Selby and his wife Beverly of Atlanta, GA, Chris Selby and his wife Kim of O'Fallon, MO, Ben Wilson and his wife Kate of Wilmette, IL, Scott Selby and his wife Candice of Atlanta, GA, and Anne (Wilson) Block and her husband Ryan of Arlington Heights, IL; six great-grandchildren: Briana, Rob, Sarah Grace, Will, Heidi Cay, and Beau; her sister, Virginia O'Neal of Atlanta, GA, and brother, Bud McKibben and his wife Neva of Mattoon, IL; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Pansy's husband, Cecil, passed away on March 14, 2008. She was also preceded in death by both parents, and as one of twelve siblings, was preceded in death by six brothers: Harley, Otto, Harry, Fred, Ernie, and Dale; and three sisters: Margaret, Bette and Dorothy. Pansy married her adoring husband, Cecil, in a simple ceremony on December 21, 1940, in St. Louis, MO. They lived in Mattoon, IL, where Pansy worked in an upholstery factory and ran a sweetshop with Cecil until she became the devoted, caring mother of their two children, Bill and Sherry. Pansy was creative and her hand-made gifts, as well as her cooking and candy making, were appreciated by everyone. In 1966, Pansy and Cecil were transferred to Danville due to Cecil's promotion, where they lived for 40 years. There they became known by many for a new passion of collecting and refinishing antiques. Since 2005, Pansy resided at Belmont Village in Buffalo Grove, IL, near her daughter, Sherry.
