Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent Monday, 25 January 1904, page 2 "In Town and Township - Jackson" J. K. Lux, an old resident of Buffalo county, was found dead in the door yard of his home six miles north of Shelton last Monday morning. Heart trouble was the cause. He leaves to mourn his death a wife and four sons, three of which live near his home and one, Clarence, living northeast of Grand Island. The many friends extend their heartfelt sympathy. *****SGT. Company C, 10th Iowa Infantry From military records: Lux, John K. Age 28. Residence Kenesaw,Ia Nativity Indiana. Enlisted July 31, 1861, as Corp Mustered Sept. 6, 1861. Promoted Sergeant Aug. 29, 1862. Wounded in right thigh severely May 22, 1863, Vicksburg, Miss. Re-enlisted and re-mustered Feb. 1, 1864. Mustered out Aug. 15, 1865, Little Rock, Ark. Lux, Jacob. Age 21.(possibly his brother) Residence Toledo,Ia nativity Indiana. Enlisted same day into same company. Died of typhoid fever March 27, 1862, New Madrid, Mo.
