Bio

He attended Polk county rural schools. Frank farmed northwest of Shelby until retiring and moving to Columbus in 1948. His widowed sister, Tina Jaax Henggeler later resided in Columbus with him. He was a Catholic, a member of the Holy Name Society and formerly belonged to the Knights of Columbus. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Bonaventure church, with Fr. Elstan Coghill officiating, and burial will be in St. Andrew Catholic cemetery at Osceola. The body is to lie in state after 1 p.m. Thursday at McKown Funeral Home, where rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Thursday. The son of John and Martha Glatter Jaax, he was born Nov. 11, 1887, at Shelby. He attended Polk county rural school. A retired farmer, Mr. Jaax resided northwest of Shelby until retiring and moving to Columbus in 1948. Mr. Jaax was a Catholic, and a member of the Holy Name Society. He formerly belonged to the Knights of Columbus. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Christina Henggeler of Columbus; many nieces and nephews, greatnieces and greatnephews; one brother-in-law, John W. Gabriel of Osceola; and three sisters-in-law. Mr. Jaax was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, Mrs. Lucy Bernt, M rs. Cecilia Gabriel, Mrs. Margaret Henggeler, Anna Jaax, Peter, Hubert, John and William Jaax.
