Bio

Frederick Pete Wiese, 86, of Washington died Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. Born on March 9, 1924, to Henry and Mary Spillman Wiese, he married Helen Brecklin on June 11, 1950, in Washington, Ill. She preceded him in death on Aug. 22, 2004, in East Peoria. Surviving are his son, Randy (Shari) Wiese of Morton; and his daughter, Jane (Gary) Provenzano, also of Morton; and two brothers, Robert Wiese of Washington and John Wiese of Texas. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Richard Wiese. Pete was a U.S. Army veteran. He entered the battlefront at Anzio, Italy, in January 1944 at age 19. He was later captured and held in Italy and Germany until liberated in April 1945. Pete retired from Caterpillar Inc., where he worked in construction as a millwright. Previously, he had worked as a carpenter for several builders and helped build many homes in Washington. He was a member of the VFW Walker-Danforth Post 9016 in Washington as well as the American Legion Post 100 in Washington, and the Ex-POW Association and 78th Infantry Division Association. He had been an officer with each organization. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington, where military rites will be accorded. Full obit in the Peoria Journal Star - April 8, 2010 .
