Joseph S. "Joe" Radke, 91, of St. Paul died on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island. Mr. Radke was born on June 26, 1918, at St. Edward to Cashmer and Nellie (Budzinski) Radke. He married Victoria Kosmicki on June 7, 1944, at Ashton. She preceded him in death. Survivors of the immediate family include daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia Kuta of Mesa, Ariz., Josephine and John Horky of Grand Island, Rosemary and Richard Ross of Loveland, Colo., Dorie and Galen Dulitz of Ord and Shirley and Jerry Hanisch of St. Paul; sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Peg Radke of Grand Island and Larry and Vicki Radke of Gretna; and sisters, Rosemary Kowalski of Loup City and Irene Darnell of Lexington; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren a and host of friends and relatives. He attended school in Sherman County. He and his wife farmed in the Ashton, Farwell, Dannebrog and St. Libory areas until 1974. While farming during the day, he worked nights at the American Crystal Sugar Beet Factory in Grand Island, then as a boiler engineer for the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant. They moved to St. Paul, and Joe worked for Pfizer Genetics in Doniphan until retirement. Joe was a member of the St. Libory Catholic Church, St. Paul Knights of Columbus and Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed farm sales and auctions, fishing, hunting and dancing to polka music. Joe had a strong work ethic and responsibilities. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two granddaughters, Kimberly Horky and Brenda Dulitz; one grandson, Larry Radke Jr.; three brothers, Paul, Richard and Ted; one sister, Marie Bogatz; and one son-in-law, Ray Kuta.
