Bio
Johnnie Irvin Junek, 79, of College Station passed away on Friday, April 9, 2010, at his residence. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 11, at Hillier Funeral Home. Services are set for 10 a.m. Monday, April 12, at Wellborn Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Wellborn Cemetery. Johnnie was born on April 30, 1930, in Snook to John Albert and Minnie (Orsak) Junek. He was a market manager for A&P Wiengarten and Brookshire Brothers from the 1940s to the 1960s. From 1962 to 1993, he owned numerous businesses in the Brazos Valley area, including Junek's Grocery. After he retired in 1993, he ran cattle and gardened in Wellborn. He loved fishing and hunting, but his cows were his pride and joy. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Dorothy Charline Junek in July 2009. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Billy Junek and Mark and Kathleen Junek; a granddaughter, Kristen Junek; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clarence and Dalia Mae Junek, Elo and Lynn Junek and Frank and Mildred Junek; brother-in-law, Clinton Matcek and wife, Betty; and numerous nieces and nephews.
