Son of Henry Augustus Kimm and Elizabeth Klippel. He married Caroline Schneider 23 October 1881, and they had two sons, Ira Allen Kimm and Frankie E. Kimm. Siblings included Silas August Kimm, Susan (Mrs. Jacob Kern), and Mary Kimm.
