Bio
Daughter of Raymond A. and Hilda C. (Jorgensen) Wert. She grew up on the family farm northeast of Hampton, attended rural Hamilton County schools, and graduated from Hampton High School in 1951. On April 25, 1953, Bonnie J. Wert and Clarence W. Blase were united in marriage at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church near Hampton. Seven days after their marriage, Clarence left to serve with the military in Korea and Bonnie lived and worked in the Aurora area until he returned in 1954. They lived in Aurora until the spring of 1955 when they moved to their farm south of Hordville. Bonnie and Clarence worked together in their farming operation, for 24 years Bonnie ran a detassling crew, she drove bus for the Hordville, Polk, and High Plains Schools for 33 years, and also had a newspaper route. Bonnie was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and taught the nursery Sunday School class for over 30 years. She enjoyed sewing and flowers, she coached softball, and she loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband – Clarence Blase of Hordville; four sons – Dwight and Cheryl Blase of Aurora and their children – Seth Blase and Evann Blase; Allen and Mary Jo Blase of Hordville and sons Eric and Lisa Blase and Adam Blase; Brian and Shawna Blase of Hordville and daughters – Erin Blase and Kara Blase; and Bruce Blase of Hordville; and two daughters – Ann Blase of Hordville and Kay Blase of Milford; sister-in-law – Joy Wert of North Loup; brother-in-law – John Wohlgemuth of Milford; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters – Betty Pierce, Donna Isaacs, and Twila Wohlgemuth; and two brothers – Keith and Dwayne Wert.
