Obituary/Newsclippings Edward N. Henggeler, 42, died at his home in Shelby, Tuesday October 11th. He had been suffering two years with cancer. He had undergone two operations but the relief was only temporary. He was the youngest of the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Henggeler, residing north of Columbus. When 12 years of age, the family moved to Stockville, Nebraska where he grew to manhood. When he served as best man at the wedding of his brother and sister-in-law (in rural Polk county, Nebraska), Mr. and Mrs Fred Henggeler, he met his future bride, Miss Margaret "Maggie" Glatter, who was the bridesmaid. Edward and Maggie married Oct. 26, 1925 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Shelby. They established their home on a farm near Stockville, and three years later moved from Stockville to a farm, 7 1/2 miles northeast of Shelby where they remained there until a year ago, when they took up their home in Shelby, due to Edward's impaired health. He was a devoted member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Elaine, 10 years old; and Maxine, 8 years old, and one son, Duane, 19 months old; his mother, three brothers and four sisters. The body was laid to sepulchre by six nephews: Arthur, Clinton and Donald Lynch, Jerome and Vincent Macken and Gerald Henggeler. Many relatives and friend attended the last rites of this good man. He was a loving husband and father, and in general, highly respected in the neighborhood where he was known. Edward's Middle Name A granddaughter of Edward related that her mother Maxine Henggeler Allison, shared that the middle name for Edward was "Nichlos/Nicholas". Marriage license for Edward and Maggie listed Edward's middle name as "Nicolaus". 1918 signed military registration card reflected a middle name of "Norris".
