Roy was the son of William Boyd Simmons (1867 – 1943) and Orietta Barrett (1874 – 1954), both born in Illinois. He was the husband of Mary (??). The US Census taken June 7, 1900 lists the following household members, all born in Illinois and all living in Cisne Village, Bedford Twp., Wayne Co., Illinois: William Simmons 32 b.
