Mr. Janek was a Continental Trailways bus driver and was on his bus run when he developed severe chest pains and drove the bus to the Grapevine station. He asked for a relief driver and went to a doctor's office in Grapevine. An ambulance was called and took him to the Dallas hospital. He died after reaching the hospital. Mr. Janek, or Ray, as he was known in West, was one of the Continental Trailway's oldest drivers. In November of 1962, he was given a two-million-mile safe driver's award from the company. Mr. Janek was a native of Penelope and had lived in the Penelope and West communities most of his life. He was married to the former Lillian Vitek. At one time they were in the cafe business in West but Mr. Janek returned to the bus lines after that time and had been a bus driver ever since. Mr. Janek was a member of the West Brethren Church in West and a member of SPJST Lodge No. 54. Survivors include his wife; a son, Raymond Janek, Jr., of West; a brother, Harry Lee Janek of San Antonio; two sisters, Mrs. Elnor Manney of Leavenworth, Kansas, and Mrs. Helen Hornak of Waco.
