East Oregonian Mar. 18, 2010 PENDLETON - Clifford John Dittus, 84, of Pilot Rock died Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton following a short illness. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 20 at the Community Presbyterian Church in Pilot Rock, followed by interment at the Pilot Rock Cemetery. Mr. Dittus was born June 10, 1925, in Fredonia, N.D., to John and Emma (Mund) Dittus. He was raised and educated in Fredonia. He married Verna Palensky in 1953 in Fredonia. He was a lifelong farmer, and moved from North Dakota to Pilot Rock in 1981. Mr. Dittus is survived by his wife of 56 years, Verna, at the home in Pilot Rock; sisters Darlene Dittus of Encinitas, Calif., and Mary Lue Slabik of Pilot Rock; several nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and -nephews; and many friends and relatives in Oregon and North Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Emma Dittus; brother Levorn Dittus; and sister Angeline Dittus. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Presbyterian Church, P.O.
