Lott Massey was my GGG Grandfather J.M. Massey's brother. They both died in the Yankee prison ,Camp Douglas in Chicago, Illinois. Lott Porter Massey was born around 1819 in South Carolina and died on 2 September 1862 as a Confederate Prisoner of War at a Union prison camp, Camp Douglas, Illinois. He is buried in the Confederate mound at Camp Douglas. The mound is where hundreds of POWs are buried. The prison camp is located at Chicago, Illinois. Lott is listed on an unnumbered page in the book, Confederate Soldiers, Sailors, Civilians Who Died as POW's at Camp Douglas, Illinois 1862-1865; US Quartermaster Corps 1967. Lott married Parthenia Warforde in Monroe County, MS on 21 September 1842. The marriage was performed by T.I. Ford, an acting justice of the peace, for Monroe County, MS. The marriage record is located at the courthouse at Aberdeen, MS. It is not known for sure when Lott and Parthenia moved to Arkansas from Mississippi but it had to be around 1853 or 1854 as one of their children was born in Arkansas in 1856. Lott moved with his brothers, John (Jack) and Issac, and sisters, Lydia (Massey) Cooper and Mary (Massey) Cooper. Lott the son of John Massey and Mary (?-some believe Mary Bobo) Massey. Parenthia Warforde, the daughter of (James?) and Nancy Warforde. James is thought to be the name of the father, since their second son was named James
