Topeka Capital-Journal, The (KS) - Wednesday, July 31, 2002 EMPORIA --- Doris J. Bedner, 67, Emporia, died Monday, July 29, 2002, at an Emporia hospital. Mrs. Bedner was a certified public accountant. She retired in 1978. She was born July 10, 1935, in Lebo, the daughter of Leo Eugene and Cletis Miller Hodges. Mrs. Bedner was a board member of the Lyon County Council on Aging and she was active in the Emporia Senior Center. She was a member of Eagles Aerie No. 2587, Emporia State University Alumni and the auxiliaries to Ball-McColm Post No. 5 of the American Legion and Lowry-Funston Post No. 1980 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She married Charles W. Edington on Jan. 11, 1953, in Reading. They were divorced. She married Jerry Lynn Bedner on Nov. 24, 1978, at Lebo. He died Nov. 15, 1995. She married Leo E. King on June 8, 1999, at Council Grove. He died June 2, 2000. Survivors include two sons, Michael Edington, Oklahoma City, and Rodney Edington, Leavenworth; three daughters, Viola Marie Willhite, Cleveland, Okla., Rhonda G. Mercer, Emporia, and Charla J. Edington, Chapparal, N.M.; her mother, Cletis Hodges, Emporia; four brothers, Gerald Hodges, Andover, Dennis Hodges, Reading, Russell Hodges, Lebo, and Troy Hodges, Kansas City, Kan.; 18 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Chapel in Emporia. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emporia Senior Center and sent in care of the funeral home.
