Times Record News Wichita Falls, Texas July 1, 1964 Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Wellington for Levi Wallace O'Rear, 71, a retired farmer and former Collingsworth County resident who died Monday night in a Shamrock hospital. Rev. S.T. Greenwood of Alanreed and Elder E.J. Norman of Childress will officiate in services from the First Baptist Church here. Burial will be in West Wellington Cemetery under the direction of Kelso Funeral Home. O'Rear had lived in Shamrock four and a half years, after moving from near Wellington where he had lived for 58 years. He was a leader in Collingsworth County farm activities for many years. He was past president of the Farm Bureau there. While serving as president, the bureau brought Lyndon Johnson, then a U.S. Senator to Wellington. He formerly served on the Board of Directors of Greenbelt Electric Cooperative, which he helped organize. He served on the Board of Directors of the Farmers Cooperative Gin and had been a member of the county school board and of the Roll School Board. He was born April 24, 1893, in Desdemona in Eastman County. He moved to Wellington in 1901 with his parents. He married Katie Lee Smith December 24, 1913. She died in 1957. He and Mrs. Alice Baxter of Shamrock were married December 23, 1959. Other than the widow, survivors include two sons, S.A. of Amarillo and William of Wellington; four daughters, Mrs. Dick Cheatham and Mrs. John James, both of Garland, Mrs. Billy Uselton of Wellington and Mrs. Max Replogle of Perryton; a step-daughter, Mrs. Vencil Deter of Shamrock; three sisters, Mrs. E.T. Blades of Rush Springs, Oklahoma, Mrs. J.E. Fisher of Amarillo and Mrs. Felix Handley of Wellington; 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Provided by Angie Mitchell Martin
