Bio

Wellington Leader September 12, 1968 John Gilbert Davis, 88, a former Wellington resident, died in St. Joseph's Hospital Sunday morning, September 8. He had lived at Brownwood several years before entering Thomas Nursing home here about two months ago. Mr. Davis was born in Red River County and came to the Wellington-Shamrock area in 1922. He was a retired farmer. Mr. Davis was a Baptist. Survivors include eight children: Mrs. Ruby Pierce of Guthrie,OK; Mrs. Fern Johns, Mrs. Wyvette Thompson, J.H. Davis and F.D. Davis, all of Amarillo; E.A. Davis of Dimmitt, W.A. Davis of McLean and W.C. Davis of Hereford. Other survivors are two brothers, W.C. Davis of Lubbock, and Archie Davis of Fort Worth; 21 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
