Hermina Hanks, 91, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, of Texas City, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Mainland Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, March 14, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City with Elder Pat Young officiating. There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m., Monday, March 15, at the Alum Creek Cemetery in the Bastrop/Smithville area. Visitation will be 3 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Hanks was born December 23, 1918, in Schwertner, Texas. She was a homemaker and member of Grace Primitive Baptist Church in Houston. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Lydia Bischoff; daughter Rebecca Ruth Hanks; baby boy Hanks; brothers John Wesley Bischoff and Benjamin Bischoff; and sister Gladys Goode. Survivors include her husband of 62-1/2 years, Oscar Ray Hanks; sons Donald Hanks and wife Marcia, James Hanks and wife Candy, John Hanks and wife Tammy, Bruce Hanks and wife Patricia, and Oscar Roland Hanks; daughters Billye Adams and husband Don, Linda Foster and husband Jim, Sharon Barton, Terry Wheeler and husband Steve; nephew Wesley Bischoff; sister-in-law Ruby Bischoff; 27 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends. Honorary pallbearers are Brad Hanks, Brandon Hanks, Justin Hanks, Wesley Rose, Trenton Hanks, Lloyd Cody, Bryan Ramsey, James Rutlege, Zane Moseley, and Bobby Moseley.
